Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed Montecristo has an excellent name but sometimes their recipes are just so-so. This little guy looks like it will be very tasty- the wrapper is super. Sadly it is well on the mild side and when they combine a tiny cigar with a mild recipe they end up with something that is not worth the price. And it is still square. 3 5 1

I person love a box pressed cigar. this has to be one of my favorite cigar. the box press gives you good cool smoke all the way through the smoke. even if you smoke it all the way down you get the same quality smoke. it is truly the best. 5 5 1

Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed Well I am not a huge fan of dark cigars but I did try the 444. I normally dont like a heavy dark cigar at all but I did slightly enjoy this cigar. It wasnt the best I have had but then again it comes down to preference for me. If you do like a dark cigar I do recommend it. 3 5 1

Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed I am a maduro fan and a monte fan so I am bias. This cigar did not disappoint me at all though. It was a little tight at start but the draw got better and it finished with a nice creamy flavor. 3 5 1
Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed Occassionally the flavor is way stronger than normal. Well constructed good draw even burn. Some have more pepper than others but it's a short smoke so you won't be dissatisfied for long. This is a quality cigar. 4 5 1

Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed I saw these on sale and decided to order a box of them. Not top tier but they are good for the price. I will say that the first 3rd of the cigar has a very interesting butterscotch-like taste that completely took me by surprise but by the end of the 2nd 3rd it is all gone. 4 5 1

Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed This is still one of my favorite go-to cigars in my collection. A nice 35-40 minute quality smoke. Beautiful with coffee or a nice whisky. The box pressing isn't extremely evident on the all the sticks so I took a star off for consistency. Apart from that though this is just a beautiful Monte. However I wonder about JR's pricing. I bought this exact box (MX444) on Dec 8 -- barely a month ago -- for $54.95 and got a 12 cigar for $5 promo with it. I was keen to buy another box but ... Now they're saying 12 cigars free (not the exact same 12 mind you) but the price for the box of Montes is suddenly $77 which is a steep jump from a month ago. Maybe there's a legitimate reason for a sudden 40% price hike in tandem with a 12 free cigar promo add-on but it's a bit suspect when they do things like that. So a big A+ for the cigar but no such love for JR's seemingly shady pricing. 4 5 1

This cigar has all the mud body flavours you could ask for and finishes strong for such a mild cigar. I purchased some when it first came out and recently added to my collection. Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed This is still one of my favorite go-to cigars in my collection. A nice 35-40 minute quality smoke. Beautiful with coffee or a nice whisky. The box pressing isn't extremely evident on the all the sticks so I took a star off for consistency. Apart from that though this is just a beautiful Monte. However I wonder about JR's pricing. I bought this exact box (MX444) on Dec 8 -- barely a month ago -- for $54.95 and got a 12 cigar for $5 promo with it. I was keen to buy another box but ... Now they're saying 12 cigars free (not the exact same 12 mind you) but the price for the box of Montes is suddenly $77 which is a steep jump from a month ago. Maybe there's a legitimate reason for a sudden 40% price hike in tandem with a 12 free cigar promo add-on but it's a bit suspect when they do things like that. So a big A+ for the cigar but no such love for JR's seemingly shady pricing. 4 5 1

I have smoked 4 out of this box and all 4 the first half smoked fairly well but by the half way point the cigar became very soft by the time the final 3rd arrived they were so soft that continuing beyond that point was not possible. But I live in New England and only smoke outside on my porch. When winter hits, and the wind blows, I do not have the luxury of time so I buy a box of these around the holidays every year. Dark No. 444 Box-Pressed I was thrilled to enjoy little but fine cigar from Montecristo but it was quiet unpleasant. The draw was so tight. Maybe it was influenced by the bad draw but there was minimum taste. I tried to save the cigar by v cutting or opening it up more, even tried to poke it but nothing worked. I got a box of 20 and not sure if I will be able to save any at all. I was told that it is a good and consistent cigar but that wasn’t the case for me. If you are willing to take the risk of spending $100 and having a bad experience, it might be rewarding to try but when I have a cigar, I hope to enjoy it without any added stress. I am still confused about the difference between the Dark 444, the No. 4, and the Half Corona, as they are all the same size, same wrapper color, but different prices.
