But apparently after seeing allot of reviews this is how it is for the Platinum version. Smoke wise it's smooth and creamy but nothing to get worked up over at all. Toro I like a good strong bold cigar so when this guy showed up in the monthly sampler I was really hyped. Sadly I found the flavor disappointing vague and somewhat harsh...completely the opposite of what I expected. ..and very different from the much milder Monte Classic whose excellence led to my great expectations for this stick. Toro This is a great cigar. In fact getting this cigar in a sampler pack years ago is what started an enfatuation with Montecristo's for me. It has a nice firm construction but draws evenly. The flavor isn't harsh. Lots of smoke. The burn wasn't terribly straight but that's an elusive ideal in my experience. 4 5 1

Toro I realize handmade anything will have some inherent variation. Reading through these reviews, I’m surprised how many people weren’t thrilled with this cigar. In my experience, this is a great smoke. Often, I find that the smoke coming out of the cigar just smells like, well just smoke. Not pleasant. However, the aroma of the smoke from this cigar is very pleasant. Smoking a Platinum Toro, the draw is great. The flavor is 6 stars out of 5. This is one of my favorite smokes. 5 5 1

Toro I have to believe that the Montecristo factory cut a few corners on this cigar series. Poorly constructed, filler was short leaf, folded and nonexistant, hardly any cone, mostly binder and the wrap burned irregularly. I spent most of my expected quiet time fighting to keep this stick burning straight. A poor cigar at any cost. Montecristo's are off my list forever. 1 5 1
Toro Great flavor, smooth and rested well with the pallet, even better with a smooth drink. The burn was even, slow and smooth. To be fair, I had not let these spend any time in the humidor or age at all, but the draw was a struggle almost the entire smoke. I had to work hard to get Any draw at all. With time I’m hoping for a better draw and will be a fantastic smoke. I’ll revisit at that time 3 5 1

Toro My new favorite Monte. Had it on the back porch, watching the sun go down with a nice fire. Smoked this with a craft doppelbock beer. Improved the flavor of the beer and the beer just enhanced the deeper nutty, cocoa, woody, dark sugar flavors. The longer I smoked the more cocoa I got with a little leathery flavor. If you're not a cigar smoker but interested, and have friends / family that enjoy Montes, I'd start here. Not going to overwhelm those seeking enjoyment for the first time. 5 5 1

Toro Was a bit concerned reading all the negative reviews after I purchased these in a 5 pack. Just about into the final third of the first out of five and I have no complaints. The burn has been darn near perfect and flavor is awesome. The draw is a tad on the tight side but I’d prefer that over a loose draw. Outstanding Monte! 5 5 1
