Cetro Medium/full-bodied, with balanced notes of chocolate, oak, leather, & maduro sweetness. Slightly bitter when fresh, but benefits significantly with proper aging. Overall decent construction & draw; somewhat inconsistent burn; with a firm, white/light gray ash. The dark brown & oily, Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper has a few light veins, a smattering of toothiness, and is better finished than many of the other JR Ultimate offerings. Compared to the Cetro Oscuro, this Maduro is slightly mellower and slightly sweeter. 4 5 1
Cetro Here is a tip from a looong time jr customer. These cigars are the best size and the best wrapper. The oscuro is like an 85 percent dark chocolate bar..too bitter. The ems just.. off. But the ratio of this wrapper to filler gives you that chocolate bar flavor, really, that I've never had in another cigar. But here is the tip. Ultimates age, they age subimely. If you are a premium cigar smoker than you likely have some kind of cigar budget. These fit right in. You can likely afford to pick up a cabinet box of them and put them down. Yeah, I know, they are a year old when you get them but add a year or two or three to that and you get a well balanced treat that will have you going back to your stash after every pastrami sandwich, after that red sauce pasta, after that smoked fish plate. The construction is, well, a little bit more than lax, the caps are rough and may peel off on you once in a while, there are blemishes on the wrapper. But they draw well, yield plenty of smoke and last quite a while. I'm smoking an 8 year old one now and id lay it against a padron (i know, everyone says that..so, maybe not a padron). If you have read my reviews, I tell it as I call it. This is the best consistent deal jr offers. Milk chocolate, hint of nuts, leather on the moderately long finish. There are better cigars but not at this price point. You will thank me in a year or two. 5 5 1
