After being exiled from Cuba, Don Simon Camacho, brazenly founded Camacho Cigars in Miami, Florida in 1961. Built for the daring, remaining resolute and prospective, Camacho Cigars are rich in Cuban heritage, inherently bold and fueled by fire. The first Camacho cigars were developed in the Jamastran Valley region using seeds that were smuggled out of Cuba during the advent of the Cuban Revolution. In just a few short years, they catapulted to becoming a favorite cigar brand by one of the boldest to have ever lived and an avid smoker who became synonymous with cigars, the l...egendary Winston Churchill himself. Even in his final years, the Nobel Prize winner, Statesman and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom had an unceasing selection of Camacho Cigars delivered to him to his hospital room. Churchill favored Camacho Cigars so much that he gave them out to friends. In 1963 at a Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo luncheon, he gifted a friend a single Camacho cigar that would later sell for over $3,000 in 2010 at an auction by Christie’s of London. This brings us to Monte Carlo. One may say it’s safe to conclude that this instance perhaps played a role in the naming of this line. On Monday, September 11, 1978, a trademark application was filed for MONTE CARLO with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This trademark is owned by none other than Camacho Cigars, Inc. By the time the 1990 Cigar Boom rolled around everyone fell in love with Camacho, resting in the humidors of many from the everyday blue-collar man to the high-level executive across the world. Distinguished by being a high-grade tobacco brand steadfast to the international standards of innovation and integrity, the Camacho brand is a legendary staple renowned for their high end, premium cigars. So extraordinary and high in demand, decidedly they wanted to utilize ALL their tobacco to limit waste. Thus, the Monte Carlo bundles came to fruition. A truly exceptional offering, rolled in Cuban tradition using the Cuban sandwich method, these bundles feature mixed filler that maybe left over but are still premium tobaccos used on production line Camacho cigars. Featured is a Sumatra wrapper and a complex blend of Honduran binder and fillers culminating in a mellow to medium-bodied profile, slightly spicy in character with some earthy tones. Consider pairing it with a single malt scotch or cognac. The hand-rolled gems are highly enjoyable but fall on the lower end of costing. They are a favorite of the old fashion Cuban cigar smoker that are a wallet-friendly and commonly sold amongst the traditional Cuban cafes in the Miami and Tampa area.
