For almost 50 years, JR Alternative Cigars have been one of our best-selling brands with a presence in the humidors of aficionados across the country. Beloved for their affordable prices, consistent flavors, wide selection of sizes and blends, and top-notch construction, JR Alternative Cigars are a favorite among cigar connoisseurs with a tight budget who still want to enjoy a quality smoke.
When JR Cigar first opened for business in 1971, it was operated out of a small storefront on the corner of 5th Avenue and 45th Street in the heart of Manhattan. Room for displays is at a premium in a space that is 14 feet wide and 21 feet long, so JR Cigar founder Lew Rothman commissioned a fixture maker to make two large showcases to display a large cigar selection to passersby through the front window.
Rothman asked if Blumenthal could send him Punch and Hoyo in bundles instead of boxes, and nude without any bands on the cigars. Not only could Blumenthal fulfill the request, but he would sell the nude bundles to Rothman for less than the boxed and banded cigars. Instead of charging customers the same price, Rothman passed the savings on to them and JR Alternatives to Punch and Hoyo were born!
Back then, JR Alternative Cigars were the exact same cigars as the boxed and banded cigars, but the cigar boom of the 1990s changed everything. Demand for premium handmade cigars soared, and supply just could not keep up. Cigar makers would no longer sell the nude bundles of their name-brand cigars to JR at a discount, and a new source for the production of JR Alternative Cigars needed to be found.
When the cigar boom ended in the late 1990s and early 2000s, cigar makers had tons of excess tobacco stored up as demand sharply dropped, and JR Alternative Cigars were the perfect way to turn their inflated tobacco inventories into reasonably priced cigars.
Today, JR Alternative Cigars are produced at some of the most famous cigar factories in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua. This includes the likes of Flor de Copan and Tabacalera de Garcia, homes of famous brands such as Montecristo, H. Upmann, and Romeo y Julieta. You can find JR Alternative Cigars in a wide range of blends and sizes to fit any thrifty aficionado’s palate.
To find all of your favorite classic alternatives, look no further than the original JR Alternatives. Coming from the major cigar making trio of Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua, here you can find alternatives to household names like Montecristo, Partagas, Don Diego, Nub, and many more.
With JR Honduran / Nicaraguan Alternatives, you can narrow down your search to the most popular Nicaraguan and Honduran brands out there. You can enjoy the rich earthy flavors of Honduran brands like El Rey del Mundo and Punch, as well as the zesty spiciness of Nicaraguan favorites including Perdomo, CAO, and La Gloria Cubana.
If you want to enjoy flavors akin to those from the forbidden island of Cuba for a far more affordable price than buying a plane ticket, JR Cuban Alternative cigars are going to be right at home in your humidor. Blended to capture the taste and style of those old-school Cuban greats, you can enjoy legends such as Bolivar, Sancho Panza, Cohiba, and the classic Montecristo No. 2.

Founded in 1875 Cuba and named after the titular characters in Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy, Romeo y Julieta Cigars are one of the most recognizable and well-known premium cigar brands ever made. A favorite of the legendary statesman Winston Churchill, Romeo y Julieta Cigars are the favorite of aficionados across the country.
Founded by Inocencio Alvares and Manin Garcia in 1875, Romeo y Julieta Cigars were off to a hot start from the beginning. Between 1885 and 1900, Romeo y Julieta cigars won countless awards and accolades in numerous competitions, which are still proudly displayed on every box of Romeo y Julieta Cigars. However, Romeo y Julieta Cigars would soon see a meteoric rise in popularity around the world.
In 1903, Alvares and Garcia sold Romeo y Julieta Cigars to Jose “Pepin” Rodriguez Fernandez. Fernandez was the former boss of the famed Cabanas factory, and he was obsessed with Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. A man of high class and a socialite, Fernandez traveled all across the United States and Europe promoting Romeo y Julieta Cigars to the world’s wealthy. He even had a racing horse named Julieta.
With Romeo y Julieta Cigars’ popularity among members of high society, many customers had requested Fernandez create custom bands for their cigars. Over 20,000 unique and personalized bands were made for wealthy clients around the world, including Winston Churchill. Churchill was such a huge and public fan of Romeo y Julieta Cigars its main size was renamed in his honor, creating the famous Churchill vitola.
Fernandez would never see the turmoil that was soon to come for his beloved Romeo y Julieta Cigars. He passed in 1954 at the age of 88, and ownership passed on to his son. Five years later, Castro’s Communist Revolution swept across Cuba, and Romeo y Julieta Cigars, along with countless other Cuban brands, were nationalized by the Cuban government.
The younger Fernandez would keep the Romeo y Julieta Cigars trademark going in the U.S. until his passing in 1978, when the brand came under the purview of Hollco-Rohr. Romeo y Julieta Cigars were then made by the Quesada family in the Dominican Republic at MATASA for nearly 20 years. In 1998, Hollco-Rohr was spun into Altadis U.S.A. and was moved to Tabacalera de Garcia, where it remains today.
Although Romeo y Julieta Cigars has changed hands a few times, it still retains that same dedication to quality and luxury that made it a favorite among aficionados across the country. Today, they are blended by Rafael Nodal and the talented Grupo de Maestros.
Some of their top lines include the Romeo y Julieta 1875, the Reserva Real, and Romeo y Julieta Crafted by AJ Fernandez all blended to please the most discerning palates.
Still unsure what to choose? We have come up with a fantastic Romeo y Julieta buying guide to help you pick your favorite blend. But whichever one you choose, make sure you order your Romeo y Julieta Cigars online right here with JR.
Famous the world over for its consistently top-rated offerings and exceptional tobaccos, Arturo Fuente Cigars is the preferred brand for aficionados who expect only the best from their cigars. Arturo Fuente Cigars is a family-owned brand that calls the Dominican Republic its home, and its blends have a focus on and make use of the finest tobaccos the island nation has to offer.
The history of Arturo Fuente started in 1912 when brand founder and family patriarch Arturo Fuente first started rolling cigars in his home. Born in 1888 Cuba, Arturo Fuente and his family emigrated from Cuba to Ybor City, a haven for Cuban immigrants just outside of Tampa, after the end of the Spanish-American War. He would have Cuban tobaccos shipped to his Tampa home, roll them himself, and sell them to the local community.
The people of Tampa took notice of just how good Fuente’s cigars were, and the popularity of Arturo Fuente Cigars continued to grow. In just short 12 years, Arturo Fuente Cigars grew to a massive operation employing over 500 people, but Arturo Fuente Cigars would soon have its first encounter with its oldest adversary – fire.
Eight separate fires have plagued Arturo Fuente Cigars in its century-long history, and the first was catastrophic. Tragedy came in 1924 when a fire burned down the Tampa factory, forcing Arturo Fuente Cigars to shutter and halt production. It was not until 1946, after the Great Depression and World War II, when Arturo Fuente Cigars was able to start making cigars again.
When Arturo was ready to retire in 1958, he sold Arturo Fuente Cigars to his passionate son, Carlos, who had a vision of making the brand a household name across the country. However, roadblocks would soon hamper Carlos’ dreams for Arturo Fuente Cigars.
In the early 1960s, the United States enacted an embargo against Cuban goods, and Arturo Fuente Cigars was suddenly cutoff from its primary tobacco source. Experimenting with tobaccos from around the world, nothing satisfied Carlos Fuente in his search to replace Cuban tobaccos. With the cost of labor also skyrocketing in the United States, Arturo Fuente Cigars relocated to the fertile soils of Nicaragua.
The times would continue to be tough, as the Sandinista Revolution swept across Nicaragua and Arturo Fuente Cigars’ factory was once again burned down like its Tampa factory all those years ago. Relocating to Honduras, another fire struck the brand and was forced to move once again in 1980, this time to the Dominican Republic where Arturo Fuente Cigars still calls home.
Things began to take off during the 1980s with the release of Arturo Fuente Hemingway, a line of cigars using a Cameroon wrapper and Dominican fillers hand rolled into old-school perfecto shapes and capitalizing on the lack of competition for the format. Arturo Fuente Cigars was also heavily investing in tobacco growing and are credited with being the first to grow wrapper tobaccos in Dominican soil. Find out why they have become renowned within the industry in our Arturo Fuente wrapper guide on the Blending Room.
Some of their top lines include the Arturo Fuente brand and Don Carlos. Both cigars are made with aged tobaccos that offer a truly luxurious smoking experience.
Get a taste of the rich history of perseverance, quality, and passion that shines through in every Arturo Fuente cigar.
One of the most famous cigar brands to ever exist, Montecristo Cigars are built on a dedication to top-quality craftsmanship, unrivalled blending prowess, and using only the finest tobaccos around the world. However, the Montecristo legacy is far more than just a brand with rich history, it was fundamental in shaping the landscape of the premium cigar industry as we know it today.
Montecristo Cigars was founded by the famous Alonzo Menendez and his business partner Jose “Pepin” Manuel Garcia after they purchased the legendary Particulares cigar factory in Havana, Cuba. Looking to create a new brand made at their newly purchased facility, Menendez and Garcia took inspiration from an unexpected source.
The workers at Particulares were especially fond of the 1845 novel The Count of Monte Cristo written by Alexandre Dumas. A story of hope, justice, and an ascent from rags to riches, Montecristo would serve as the perfect name for Menendez’s new brand.
Montecristo Cigars would go on to become an exceptionally popular brand throughout Cuba and the world with its flagship No. 2 size, allowing Menendez and Garcia to procure the H. Upmann factory just a few years after Montecristo’s founding. However, turmoil would strike it and the rest of the Cuban cigar industry in 1959 with the completion of Castro’s communist revolution.
Menendez fled Cuba in 1960 with his family, including his son Benjamin “Benji” Menendez. Benji, yearning to return to making cigars, began making the famous Montecruz brand during the 1960s. Montecruz caught on quick throughout the 1960s, spreading widely throughout the United States, but Menendez would not be satisfied until he could once again produce his beloved Montecristo brand.
In 1972, Menendez won a landmark case that allowed him to use his family’s Montecristo trademark in the United States. This momentous decision not only allowed Menendez to use the Montecristo mark, but it also allowed any Cuban expat to use the cigar brands that were stolen from them by the Cuban government.
Perhaps the most popular brand with aficionados of any palate preference is the Montecristo White Series. Since its release in 2007, this blend has had a constant presence in humidors across the country. Its blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan long fillers, Nicaraguan binder, and Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper deliver a rich medium-bodied medley of coffee, leather, baking spices, cocoa, and cream.
To enjoy the smoothness and luxury of Montecristo with a bolder, richer profile, Montecristo Platinum Series cigars will be right at home in your collection. You can expect a medium-full bodied bevy of spices, earth, chocolate, leather, cream, and a sweet finish with each puff.
For a modern expression of Montecristo with a Cuban twist, you are certain to enjoy the Montecristo Crafted by AJ Fernandez. Full-bodied notes of peppery spice, nuts, earth, and creamy tobacco sweetness will coat your palate in a symphony of flavor.
With well over a dozen top-shelf blends, we put together this Monecristo buying guide to help you pick the Montecristo cigar right for you. But whichever blend from Montecristo Cigars you pick, make sure to place your order right here with JR Cigar.
Cigar Samplers are a great way for both novice and experienced aficionados to expand their palates with new blends at an affordable price. If you have never tried a particular cigar blend before, it can be a risky investment buying a full box of cigars. If they are not fit for your palate, you would be stuck with a humidor full of a bunch of cigars you do not like and an empty wallet.
Rather than take the risk with a pricey box of cigars, you can try several cigars at a time with a Cigar Sampler. A Cigar Sampler is an assortment of anywhere between 3, 10, 20, or even more than 50 cigars of different brands, blends, and sizes. With so many options on the market today, there are countless combinations and assortments to choose from.
The most basic kind of cigar sampler you can find is akin to a tasting or a flight. Have you ever wondered what the best size of a particular blend is? If so, a sampler such as the Padron Family Reserve Gift Pack or Romeo y Julieta 1875 Tubo Collection would be an excellent choice. Each of these samplers focuses on a specific blend and the most popular sizes of offered, allowing you to discover your favorite vitolas.
More commonly, you will find cigar samplers from a certain brand showing off the array of blends under its umbrella. The biggest and most famous brands on the market all have samplers that demonstrate that brand’s portfolio, including household names like Montecristo, Oliva, Rocky Patel, Romeo y Julieta, Ashton, and several more.
You can choose your cigar samplers based on country of origin, so you get a better taste for the different blending and rolling styles employed by each country. For example, you can get a full range of flavors from the Dominican Master Sampler, with each cigar in the assortment made at the legendary Tabacalera de Garcia in the Dominican Republic.
You can also find cigar samplers based on the strength of the cigars in the assortment, so if you are a newcomer into the cigar hobby you can enjoy a smorgasbord of delicious mellow or mellow-medium bodied cigars. Those with seasoned palates can enjoy a smattering of full-bodied cigars to discover new blends and flavor profiles.
With so many options, it can be intimidating to find the right cigar sampler for you, so we created these handy sampler buying guides to help you find your perfect cigar sampler. In any case, you will enjoy some big-time savings by adding a cigar sampler to your humidor than trying a bunch of different boxes. For over 50 years, Macanudo Cigars have been the preferred choice of cigar enthusiasts just getting into the hobby as well as experienced aficionados. Mainly known for the creamy, smooth taste of the original Macanudo Café, Macanudo has grown its portfolio with a series of top-quality blends to appeal to any connoisseur’s craving.
Macanudo Cigars were first made in small quantities in Jamaica during World War II, mainly for the U.K. market, until Edgar Cullman and General Cigar Co. purchased the Temple Hall factory and the rights to Macanudo in 1969. At the time, General Cigar was mostly involved with machine-made cigars, but Macanudo would prove to be the vehicle for General to become a massive name in handmade premium cigars.
By the time the 1990s cigar boom rolled around, Macanudo was already the United States’ most popular cigar brand. Macanudo Cigars was churning out well over 10 million cigars a year during the cigar boom, and there were no signs of slowing down. Today, there are millions of Macanudo Cigars made each year, mainly out of General Cigar Dominicana, but also from STG Esteli and STG Danli.
At the turn of the millennium, the craze of the 1990s cigar boom had died down and aficionados were clamoring for bolder, richer blends. Macanudo responded with the introduction of Macanudo Maduro, a cigar that combined the richness that people craved with Macanudo’s penchant for smooth, approachable blends.
Another favorite among connoisseurs is the Macanudo Gold Label, a yearly, limited release that highlights the very best that Macanudo has to offer. By only using the most gorgeous and top-quality tobaccos from its Connecticut Shade crops, the Gold Label provides an even smoother, sweeter experience than the Macanudo Café.
In the last decade, Macanudo Cigars has continued to court the seasoned aficionado with its groundbreaking Inspirado Series. Consisting of several top-rated lines like the Inspirado Red, Inspirado Green, and Inspirado Black, each with its own rich blend of tobaccos, there is an Inspirado blend for any aficionado to sink their teeth into.
Infused cigars have also become exceptionally popular in the modern cigar world, and Macanudo has taken notice with the M by Macanudo Coffee. Coffee and cigars pair together like peanut butter and jelly, and these delectable treats combine them both into an exceptionally good smoking experience. You can also enjoy the M by Macanudo Bourbon and Espresso for a richer experience.
As Macanudo Cigars continues to develop and grow, now hosting a sizeable portfolio of over a dozen brands, it has not lost sight of its roots. Each and every cigar bearing the name Macanudo is certain to provide you with a wonderful and fantastic experience, and nearly 60 years of history and several awards prove that to be the case.
A national favorite that has a knack for quality construction and mouthwatering flavors, Macanudo Cigars are sure to quickly become the next favorite in your rotation. To fill your humidor with your favorite size and blend from Macanudo Cigars, place your online order with JR today to get them delivered right to your door!
If you want a punch of flavor from your cigar, look no further than Punch Cigars. As one of the oldest brands on the market today, Punch Cigars is a perpetual success by focusing on quality craftsmanship, rich flavors, and a passion for making some of best and boldest cigars around.
Way back in 1840, the very first Punch Cigars were produced in Havana, Cuba. The Punch name, and its iconic mascot, were inspired by a traditional European puppet called Punch and Judy, featuring the character Mr. Punch. This gave Punch Cigars early success, especially in Britain where Punch and Judy shows were exceptionally popular.
Following the infamous Stock Market Crash of 1929, Punch Cigars was struggling and found itself under the ownership of Fernandez, Palicio y Cia, which also made the famous Belinda and Hoyo de Monterrey brands. Fernandez, Palicio y Cia made Punch Cigars in Havana for over 3 decades until the early 1960s when the U.S. levied an embargo against Cuban goods in response to Castro’s communist revolution.
With an end to the embargo nowhere in sight, Palicio decided to sell Punch and Hoyo de Monterrey to his good friends Frank Llaneza and Dan Blumenthal of Villazon in 1965. By 1968 with the opening of HATSA, the very first Honduran-made Punch Cigars began appearing on the market. In fact, Punch Cigars are among the first brands to be made in Honduras.
The arrival of a non-Cuban made Punch also marked a significant change in the international cigar industry, as it paved the way for other owners of Cuban heritage brands to produce and sell their brands for the United States.
Today, Punch Cigars is owned by the famous General Cigar Company and still made at HATSA in Danli, Honduras. Punch hosts a sizeable portfolio of blends leaning more toward the full-bodied end of the spectrum, but even a novice will find many Punch blends palatable.
The beloved Punch Clasico is the first introduction many connoisseurs have to full-bodied cigars. Produced in several sizes with age Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Honduran long fillers, the classic Punch comes in two blends, one with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and the other with a Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper and a Connecticut Shade binder.
The original Punch provides a rich medium-full bodied tapestry of rich flavors reminiscent of the zesty pre-embargo Cuban Punch, while the maduro blend offers added nuances of chocolate and pepper to the bold profile.
Honoring its found home after the Cuban embargo, Punch Gran Puro cigars highlight the complexity and richness of Honduran tobaccos. One of the first Honduran puros ever brought to market, the Gran Puro is blended with only the finest Honduran tobaccos with a Cuban-seed wrapper. Its medium-full bodied notes of cinnamon, earth, tobacco sweetness, and creamy finish will please a discerning palate.
If those Punch blends just do not hit hard enough, the Punch Signature delivers that knock-out flavor you seek. It features a top-quality Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper grown specifically for the blend over a rare Connecticut Habano binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan long fillers, leading to a full-bodied tapestry of spice, chocolate, earth, and leather that will make the most seasoned connoisseurs weak at the knees.
This only covers a fraction of the Punch Cigars portfolio – there are nearly a dozen blends to explore and develop your palate with. But whichever blend of Punch Cigars you favor, make sure you order them here at JR Cigar.
Drew Estate Cigars, an absolute behemoth in the premium cigar business, produces some of the most popular brands on the market like ACID, Liga Privada, and Undercrown. Unlike many of the other famous cigar brands and makers on the market today which are decades, even centuries old and founded in Cuba, Drew Estate Cigars history started just over 30 years ago during the 1990s cigar boom.
Founded by fraternity brothers Jonathan Drew and Marvin Samel, in 1996, Drew Estate Cigars has always done things differently. Bonding over their shared love of premium cigars while in college, the dynamic duo decided to open a small cigar stand in the heart of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.
The first few years forDrew Estate Cigars were full of pitfalls and mistakes, but the perseverance, passion, and creativity of Drew and Samel, as well as Drew’s colorful personality, helped to make Drew Estate Cigars a success.
With demand from the 1990s cigar boom dwindling in the late 1990s, Drew Estate Cigars needed something groundbreaking to stay afloat, and Drew and Samel needed to do it their way. In 1998, Drew traveled down to Nicaragua to learn all about the cigar business, cigar making, and opening a small factory, while Samel held down the fort in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood raising capital.
When Drew returned from Nicaragua in 1999, he brought with him something that would change the cigar landscape forever – ACID Cigars. At the time, flavored cigars were looked down upon and seen as covering up the flavor of poor tobaccos, but ACID set out to change that perception and succeeded with flying colors. Today, ACID boasts a portfolio full of colorful blends and is a best-selling brand.
Despite the success of ACID, Drew Estate Cigars still needed to prove itself as a capable maker of top-shelf handmade premium cigars. Completely against the grain of its flagship ACID brand and other flavored brands like Tabak Especial and Ambrosia, 2007 saw the release of the traditionally styled and always in-demand Liga Privada No. 9.
Initially developed as the personal blend of Drew Estate Cigars’ then-president Steve Saka, Liga Privada No. 9 proved to be too good to be kept away from consumers. Blended with rare, top-quality tobaccos, Liga Privada No. 9 became a cult classic and won the palates of seasoned aficionados across the country and silenced the haters. Spinoffs of Liga Privada like T52, covered in our T52 cigar review, and Unico Serie are also aficionado favorites.
Liga Privada was a resounding success, and with the high demand, Drew Estate had to ask its employees to quit smoking so much of them. Disappointed, the workers decided to blend themselves an alternative with different primings and vintages. What they came up with just could not be kept to themselves, and in 2011 the best-selling Undercrown brand was introduced.
Now encompassing several extensions such as the Undercrown Shade, Undercrown Sungrown, and the top-rated Undercrown 10, along with an approachable and affordable price, Undercrown has become a popular favorite for aficionados across the country.
Today, there are dozens of exceptional brands and blends in the expansive Drew Estate Cigars portfolio, with a something to please the palate of any aficionado. We've pulled together a list of our top 5 Drew Estate Cigars on the Blending Room. But you can find the right blend from Drew Estate Cigars right here at JR Cigar and at some of the best prices on the web!

A true classic in every sense, Baccarat Cigars are some of the most popular premiums on the market today, led by its flagship lines’ sweet gum cap that has captured the palates of aficionados for generations. With a penchant for providing smooth and top-quality Honduran blends for an affordable price, Baccarat Cigars have a presence in the humidors of countless aficionados.
Baccarat Cigars were first introduced by the Eiroa family back in 1989. Julio Eiroa, father of the now-famous cigar master Christian Eiroa, is a prolific farmer and cigar maker in Honduras and oversaw the exceptional rise in Baccarat Cigars. The brand’s affordable price, delicious yet smooth flavors, and sweetened cap harkening back to old-school Cuban cigars won the favor of American cigar smokers.
As the 1990s cigar boom came into full swing, the popularity of Baccarat Cigars exploded. Production went from a few hundred thousand cigars to a whopping 3 million cigars per year. Around the same time, the Eiroa family also procured the rights to the Camacho brand, diversifying the family’s portfolio.
When the boom eventually busted at the turn of the millennium, it was Baccarat Cigars that kept the Eiroa family, and its fledgling Camacho brand, in business as the modern cigar market took shape.
Baccarat Cigars proved to be an exceptionally popular choice among thrifty aficionados, especially those enthusiasts who were just getting started on their cigar journey. In 2008, Baccarat attracted the attention of Davidoff Cigars, and was sold to Davidoff along with the Camacho brand. Baccarat Cigars are still made at the Camacho factory in Honduras to this day.
Today, the portfolio of Baccarat Cigars can fit the preferences of any connoisseur. The famous original Baccarat is an all-audiences classic built with a core of aged Honduran Cuban-seed long fillers and Mexican binder with your choice of either a Connecticut Shade or Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Finished with their signature sweetened cap, Baccarat delivers a mellow medley of cream, toast, and cedar, and the Broadleaf version has a mellow-medium body with added nuances of chocolate, and hints of pepper.
Are you looking for a little more kick from your stick? Then Baccarat Nicaragua has you covered. A long-awaited line extension to its enormously popular Honduran counterpart, Baccarat Nicaragua cigars are a line of Habano wrapped beauties that feature a Sumatra binder and a core of perfectly aged Nicaraguan long fillers. Medium in body, Baccarat Nicaragua coats the palate with rich flavors of leather, toast, cedar, sweet spice, and wood. Baccarat’s latest achievement was creating the company’s very first Barber Pole style cigar. What makes a barber pole a real treat for cigar connoisseurs is its intricate taste. Once lit, both the darker and lighter wrapper leaves release their own distinct flavors at the same time and combine to create an unforgettable and flavorful experience.
In the case of Baccarat Barber Pole cigars, the dual wrappers consist of a dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper expertly intertwined with a lighter Connecticut Shade leaf. Underneath this striking dual crown is the finest aged Honduran long filler tobacco, held together by a tasty Mexican binder. This amounts to one of the most complex and captivating blends that Baccarat has ever made.
The bottom line is no matter which blend from Baccarat Cigars you choose, you do not need to leave it up to luck to get a top-notch smoking experience at some of the best prices around. Order your Baccarat Cigars with JR today!
For decades, Davidoff Cigars have been at the pinnacle of luxury. Crafted at the legendary Cigars Davidoff in the Dominican Republic under the leadership of famous tobacco man Hendrik Kelner, Davidoff Cigars has built an impressive and expansive portfolio of top-rated blends designed to appeal to connoisseurs of any palate preference.
The history of Davidoff Cigars starts in 1906 with the birth of the legendary Zino Davidoff. Born to a Jewish family in Kiev, the Davidoff family fled Geneva in 1911 to escape persecution of Russian pogroms. In that same year, Zino’s father Henri opened up a tobacco shop and it became a hotspot for those less than pleased with the Russian Czar. In fact, one of Davidoff’s regular patrons was the infamous Vladimir Lenin.
As a young adult, Zino Davidoff traveled the world and fell in love with tobacco and the art of fine cigarmaking. He developed a relationship with Cuban cigar makers and eventually became a leading purveyor of Cuban cigars in Europe leading up to and following World War II. Zino also developed the idea of naming brands after famous French vineyards, adding to the luxury appeal of Cuban cigars.
To show its appreciation for all the contributions Zino made to Cuban cigars, the newly formed Cubatabaco approached him to create a brand with his name. In 1967, the very first Davidoff Cigars began to be seen on European shelves. Playing a hand in developing the blend, the Cuban Davidoff cigars enjoyed top-shelf status alongside the legendary Cohiba brand for decades.
However, as the 1980s were ending, Zino was becoming less than pleased with the quality of the Cuban cigars bearing his name. He was so displeased that he publicly burned over 100,000 cigars, deeming them subpar and unworthy of his name. In 1991, Zino Davidoff ended his deal with Cuba and linked up with Hendrik Kelner of Tabadom, who still makes Davidoff Cigars to this day.
Encompassing more than a dozen offerings, the Davidoff Cigars portfolio is filled with highly regarded, top-rated blends with a focus on Dominican tobaccos. One of the most popular in the lineup is also named after a famous cigar man, the legendary Winston Churchill. It is crafted with Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, a Mexican binder, and an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper to deliver rich medium-bodied notes of roasted nuts, caramel, sweet cream, and cedar.
A classic crowd-favorite from Davidoff is the Davidoff Millennium Blend Series, check out our Millennium Blend review which presents the signature Davidoff luxury and refinement in a bolder blend. Released to celebrate the turn of the millennium, these treats boast finely aged Dominican long filler and binder tobaccos all dressed in a rare Ecuadorian Hybrid wrapper. This time-honored blend delivers a refined medium-bodied smoke brimming with complex flavors of white pepper, earth, cocoa, roasted nuts, and a creamy finish.
If you are more a fan of boldly rich Nicaraguan tobaccos, the Davidoff Nicaragua Series presents the signature Davidoff luxury and refinement in a bolder blend. Made entirely with the finest tobaccos Nicaragua has to offer, your palate will be greeted by a complex medium-full bodied mosaic of rich spices, earth, leather, coffee, and hints of creamy floral tones.
Whichever offering from Davidoff Cigars you are thinking of trying, you can trust that you are in for an unforgettable and high-end smoking experience. Treat your humidor to some Davidoff Cigars today by placing your order with JR Cigar.
